 Producer / Director Biography 

 

Rachael Wegener for Mystique Productions won the Screen Producers Australia "Ones to Watch" Internship Initiative by Screen Australia and the Screen Producers Australia at the SPA Gala Awards 22  November 2018  (see Media). In June 2018 she was named a "One to Watch " by the Screen Producers Association of Australia and is being mentored by the CEO of Fremantle (Aust & Asia) Chris Oliver-Taylor as a recipient of this.

She recently produced and was lead actress in two professional plays both at the Adelaide Festival Centre —Nobel Prize Winner Harold Pinter’s “Old Times” , playing Kristian Scott Thomas Role of Anna and Emmy Award Winning, William Mastrosimone’s “Extremities” , playing the Farrah Fawcett role of Marjorie - both shows and her  performances were to rave reviews  of which she has been nominated in July 2017 for a “Walk of Fame “ Spot at the Adelaide Festival Centre . Both plays were directed by Tony Knight, Past Head of Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) Acting program (1992-2011)  teacher to Rachael and Oscar Winner Cate Blanchett and Sam Worthington.—whom she acted against in a role of an Egyptian in Matchbox / NBC Universal’s  Deadline Gallipoli .

In May 2017 Rachael was nominated a South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC) Screen Siren's Producer, was awarded a place in this career accelerator program and received development financial support toward a screen project on her film and Television slate that she is currently working on. This project has Director Michael Rymer and editor Dany Cooper attached in interest and a major Australian production house looking at it.

Rachael has Professional Industry Mentorships with Chris Oliver- Taylor - CEO of Fremantle Media Australia & NZ (past Managing Director of NBC Universals owned Matchbox Pictures), Michael Rymer – Director and Producer of NBC Universal’s Television series Hannibal and Battlestar Galactica, and Michelle Krumm – Head of Acquisition and Producer for Arclight Films (past Head of Acquisitions and Producer for MIRIMAX) - a South Australian Film Corporation mentor ship awarded program .

She was a Producer and support lead actress of Hollywood Actor Matthew Lillard’s (Scooby Doo ,The Bridge) Vancouver Impact Award  Winning film “Come Home Soon” shot in Canada. Head of Sponsorship and Marketing (producer) on Canadian TV Movie “Kits” for the Rodgers Network.  Producer and support lead of Aussie feature film “John Faust”. Consulting producer on the Leo Award Nominated Canadian series “For Your Security”.

 

Producer and Resident Actress with Slixer Entertainment Canada, for 4 years in Vancouver as well as working for Canada’s biggest Cable television provider—SHAW Cable Network Canada. Her role involved dealing with and packaging American programming from US Network and Cable companies and local content production.

Segment producer, director and host for a season of The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s TV Show “Recovery” which she won the South Australian Youth Placement Training Cadetship. Recipient of a South Australia Youth Arts Board production grant to produce and direct a Music Video for the Australian ARIA Award Winning Group Hilltop Hoods. 

 

Producer, director and voice over artist for a National Bush Fire Defense Corporate production that was released at the Australasian Fire Annual Convention and featured on Channel Seven. Producer, director and host of Hip Hop     Documentary “Contents Under Pressure” featuring Hip Hop Legends Run DMC - selected for the SA Screen Awards.

Rachael has also produced and directed numerous Corporate Film and stage production and Events for such companies as Bushfire Defense – for the Australasian Fire convention -which appeared on Channel Seven, Samsung, Nestle, Milo, Coca Cola, Tatts Lotto, and the Woman’s Expo to name a few.

Rachael also produces- Acting and film workshops from multiple 8 week programs to weekend intensives some of her workshops include Hollywood Actor Andy Mcphee (HBO’s -Sons of Anarchy) International teacher and Hollywood Acting coach Paul Parker, (Head of USA AIDA, student’s in NCIS, True Blood) Tony Knight – Past Head of Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Arts Acting program (1992-2011) and with Hollywood Director Michael Rymer (Deadline Gallipoli, Hannibal ) with the Australian  Directors Guild a Australian Q and A tour to name a few. 

In the corporate sector Rachael has also worked in International Trade and Finance negotiating  with end users on trade deals and handling legal policy issues. 

Rachael holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Bachelor of Commerce / Laws and an Advanced Diploma in Acting for Film and Television and a Certificate IV in Business Management. She has studied at Flinders University of South Australia, National Institute of Dramatic Arts and  Vancouver Film School .

Won the Emotional Impact Award for Acting in the film Come Home Soon Directed by Hollywood actor Matthew Lillard at the Vancouver Impact Awards, of which Rachael also Produced.​

Young Film Makers Recognition Award for the film Contents Under Pressure" at the SA Film Awards.​
